Race 5 - 2:35PM MCDONALDS DUBBO AND WELLINGTON CLASS 1 HANDICAP (1000 METRES)
Three-year-old filly LAFFING WATERS (Best Odds Currently $4.80 with BlueBet) ran out a good winner of her maiden here two back. Jumped smartly to put herself right on the pace before being taken on by one along her inside. Ash Stanley kept her filly balanced on straightening then helped her through her gears as they ran for home. Laffing Waters continued to build strongly as the race went on, clearing out from the others late. Since jumped sharply again off her wide draw at Cowra before being asked to come back off the speed. She was forced to race wide without cover the entire yet still finished her race off well. We’re getting a price today owing to a similar wide draw and we’ll look to Stanley to allow her filly’s natural gate speed this time to cross.
Race 6 - 3:15PM MACCAS 40 YEARS IN DUBBO CLASS 1 HANDICAP (1000 METRES)
We saw a good maiden win two starts back here by SHOOTING ZAA (Best Odds Currently $11 with PlayUp). She was only racing first-up that day and stalked the speed under Matthew Palmer. Moved up to them prior to turning before shifting out to the middle part of the track. Knuckled down well to chase down the leader who continued to fight on tenaciously. Since placed at Scone when chasing up behind the leader who gave a strong kick on the turn to go all the way. Shooting Zaa is only lightly raced as we’d expect still being a filly and holds plenty of scope to improve again.
Race 7 - 3:55PM MACCAS CHICKEN DELUXE CLASS 3 HANDICAP (1400 METRES)
The heavy track at Muswellbrook did not lend any favors to SCHILLER’S MYST (Best Odds Currently $3.80 with TAB) last start. The mare was resuming from a spell following her successful short prep that culminated in a second-up win at Scone over the mile. She jumped well enough that day to put herself into spot just in front of midfield before presenting strongly up the big straight. Her win there saw Schiller’s Myst earn herself a ticket to town where she closed off strongly over 1500 metres in a class three Highway. Clearly holds some talent, is unbeaten second-up and will appreciate the firmer surface here.
