Here are our Eagle Farm tips for today.
Race 1 - 11:48AM TAB Class 6 Plate (1000 METRES)
Toowoomba galloper WINSIDE (best odds currently $14 with Palmerbet) ticks enough boxes here to be considered a genuine each-way chance in this contest. Last start, the Sidestep mare made it seven-straight podium finishes when she claimed third prize in a BM90 on a Heavy 8 at Doomben. She ran the trip out, 6 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best in this field. She has drawn wide here but her early gate speed has her settling mid-field. Larry Cassidy sticks with her here and boasting three wins and four minor placings from eight starts on wet tracks, conditions look ideal for her here. Currently at double-figure odds, she looks well worth an each-way ticket.
Race 2 - 12:23PM CHANNEL 7 MEMBERS' HANDICAP LISTED (1600 METRES)
Formerly with the Michael Costa stable, DERULO (best odds currently $6 with Palmerbet) has his first start for David Vandyke here and looks well placed to make it a winning one. Last start, the Spill The Beans gelding beat all but one home in the Listed Tails Stakes Hcp over the mile at Doomben. He ran a new personal best that day, covering the trip, 7.1 lengths quicker than benchmark, also the best in this line-up. Ryan Maloney is aboard for the first time and already boasting strong wet track form, the four-year-old looks set for a big finish in this contest.
Race 7 - 3:22PM DRINKWISE ROUGH HABIT PLATE (2143 METRES)
The Maher and Eustace-trained VERONA (best odds currently $7 with Palmerbet) is the lone filly in this event but looks a genuine chance to give these a fright. Last start, the three-year-old showed plenty of improvement when she took out the Group 3 Frank Packer Plate (2000m) on a Heavy 8 at Randwick. Despite the wet conditions, she still ran a new personal best, covering the trip 8.8 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best here by 3 lengths). She also ran the fastest final 800m to 200m sectionals for the race. Already a Group 3 winner, William Pike sticks with her and with a trouble-free run, she can give this a real shake.
