Friday Track Specialists April 24

Friday Track Specialists pinpoints the best jockeys & trainers to follow at each Australian racecourse in our Friday track specialist report.

The old adage of ‘horses for courses’ can also be applied to jockeys that excel at certain tracks, and trainers with a home ground advantage.

We pinpoint the best racecourse jockeys and trainers in our daily track specialists report.

Results based on trainer and jockey strike rates and Return On Investment (ROI) for punters throughout the 2019-2020 season.

CARLEEN HEFEL has returned a massive +250% ROI for punters at Werribee this season and has booted home four winners and two placegetters from just nine rides. Hefel has two rides on Friday.

Race 5 No. 2 Getemhel ($10)

Race 6 No. 4 Empire Liberty ($15)

BRIAN MCGRATH has saddled up seven runners at Werribee this season and not one has missed the placings while four have returned as winners. A 57%-win rate and 100% place rate as well as +112% ROI makes McGrath a trainer to stick with at Werribee. McGrath has one runner engaged with Yatta Izu looking to break a run of three consecutive runner-up placings.

Race 8 No. 2 Yatta Izu ($4.40)

Damien Thornton has the best win rate/ROI combination of any Cranbourne jockey, but has no rides for the night. That leave NOEL CALLOW to prove he really is the ‘King’ of Cranboure. Callow has a slightly better winning strike rate (27%) than Thornton (25%) but his +51% ROI is well below Thornton’s +130% ROI. Callow has booted home nine winners and six placegetters from 33 rides, and he has some strong chances on Friday night.

Race 1 No. 5 Royelle ($1.60)
Race 2 No. 6 Rokara ($1.50)
Race 4 No. 12 Unconquered Sun ($34)
Race 6 No. 1 Aluf ($41)
Race 7 No. 5 Do You Reckon ($26)
Race 8 No. 5 Elegant Snitz ($21)

Two standout performers at Cranbourne have been GREG EURELL & HENRY DWYER. Dwyer in particular has one of the best ROIs I’ve seen since doing this preview, and he’s returned +512% ROI for punters having trained four winners and one placegetter from 10 runners. Eurell boasts a +266% ROI and has landed six winners and four placegetters from 17 starters.

Henry Dwyer’s runners:
Race 2 No. 8 Repetiteur ($6)
Race 7 No. 7 Manhattan Sting ($9)

Greg Eurell’s runner:
Race 4 No. 11 Solis Ortus ($41)

Koby Jennings has an impressive 42% winning strike rate at Port Macquarie but is riding at Canberra on Friday. And while LIAM BLANCH’s win rate is half of that at 21%, his +163% ROI is more than triple Jennings’ +46% ROI. Blanch has one ride at Port Macquarie on Friday aboard a value chance he won on last start at the track and distance.

Race 7 No. 11 Nicconi Lass ($10)

Newcastle-based horseman Nathan Doyle & JAY HOPKINS each have an impressive strike rate at Port Macquarie having won with 37.5% of this season’s runners at the track. Doyle has recorded six winner and three placegetters from 16 starters for a modest +46 ROI and has no runners on Friday. Hopkins has trained three winners and two placegetters from eight starters and returned a massive +404% ROI. With just two runners on Friday, Hopkins is worth backing.

Race 2 No. 2 Munsa Magic ($8)
Race 5 No. 9 Lime And Sugar ($6)

A very even spread among the Gold Coast jockeys with no standout worth following.

Natalie McCall has a sensational 54%-win rate at the track but has no runners on Friday. No other trainers with strong enough records to suggest.
