Looking for tips and best bets for horse racing at Gawler Racecourse? Our form analysts give you their best Gawler tips for a profitable day of punting.

The redevelopment of Gawler Racecourse was completed in 2010 with the track boasting an 1840m circumference and a home straight of 300m compared to its previous straight length of 200m.

Racing over this track and trip, KING OF AVALON (Best Odds Currently $26 with Palmerbet) found himself shuffled towards the tail. Stacey Metcalfe managed to get him to the outside where he let down well. There was no pace in the race with the quinella both racing handy and staying closer to the inside. They weren’t finishing off all day out there where King Of Avalon was either, further adding merit to the performance. That’s two handy runs in a row for the Evans recruit, and we’ll hope Jake Toeroek can find some early cover.

We saw a dominant win on debut by CHROMATICA (Best Odds Currently $4.20 with Bet365). The big filly stepped out over the mile at Strathalbyn where she was caught wide without cover throughout. There had been a good tempo and Jessica Eaton gave Chromatica a confident ride by going to them early. The pair took over prior to straightening with the debutante wanting to stargaze while waiting for the other horses. Eventually straightened up well inside the 100 metres to beat an experienced maiden field with plenty in hand. Since kept ticking over in an open trial where she again raced greenly while displaying some ability.

Out to 1500m third-up, ABIT RATTLEY (Best Odds Currently $6 with Palmerbet) pinged the gates to run to an early lead. Kept honest by one to his outside, the speed was okay throughout. Stayed low to the fence against the pattern of the day, giving a good kick on straightening. Looked allover a winner most of the straight, just took one horse to come up the middle with momentum and beat him. Since pulled up lame in the near fore when we backed him last start, so we’ll forgive and be on another.
