The Scott Singleton-trained REMLAPS GEM (best odds currently $2.25 with Palmerbet) ticks every box here (and them some) and with James McDonald aboard for the first time, looks the best of the day. Last start, the Rubick gelding made it a hat-trick of wins when he comfortably took out an Open Class Hcp, here over the 900m sprint. He covered the trip, 4.9 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best in this field. He is two from two at the track and distance and unbeaten in six attempts at the 900m trip. Clearly the one to beat here.

The Kelly Schweida-trained MISS HIPSTAR (best odds currently $20 with Palmerbet) turned some heads when resuming and looks a solid each-way chance in this contest. Last start, the Star Turn filly was fresh off a 14-week spell when she beat all but one home in the Listed Mick Dittman Plate over 1110m at Doomben. She ran the trip, 3.5 lengths quicker than benchmark, second-best here behind Four Moves Ahead who makes her tracks debut off a 10-week let-up and has to deal with gate 20. The three-year-old is already a winner when second-up and has Larry Cassidy sticking with her (after steering her to all three career wins to date. Nicely drawn in gate seven, she maps to settle in the first half of the field (with cover) and with a trouble-free run, she can giver this a real fright at big odds.

The O’Dea & Hoysted-trained SHOOTING FOR GOLD (best odds currently $3.90 with Unibet) is second-up here and ticks enough boxes to suggest he is a genuine winning chance in this contest. Last start, the Shooting To Win gelding resumed off an 18-week break when he beat all but home in the Listed Ascot Qlty Hcp over 1000m at Eagle Farm. He ran that out, 7 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best in this line-up and posted the fastest final 400m sectional for the race. He is a three-time winner when second-up and is a winner at the track and distance as well. He does no work from gate three and should prove hard to hold out here.
