Here are our Grafton Tips for today:

Coffs Harbour galloper LIGHT OF BOOM (best odds currently $2.05 with Palmerbet) is yet to miss a podium finish here in three visits to the track and third-up today looks the one to beat in this contest. Last start, the Spirit Of Boom gelding came off a runner-up finish and went one better, winning his Maiden here, over the 950m sprint. He clobbered his rivals that day, putting almost five lengths on them as he made light work of the Heavy 10 conditions. He ran the trip, 4.7 lengths slower than benchmark, still the best in this field and he recorded the fastest final 800m to 200m sectionals for the race as well. Jaspar Franklin sticks with him here and from a cushy draw in gate three, he gets the gun and will take some beating today.

Trained on the Gold Coast by Michael Costa, THE CATCH (best odds currently $2.60 with Palmerbet) is second-up today and looking for back-to-back victories here. Last start, the Medaglia D’oro gelding was fresh off a lengthy 38-week absence when he destroyed a BM62 field over 1300m on a Heavy 8 at the Gold Coast. Putting more than 6 lengths on them over the line, he ran that out, 1 length slower than benchmark, still the best in this line-up by more than 5 lengths. He also posted the fastest final 800m to 200m sectionals for the race, a super effort after almost nine months in the paddock. The conditions look ideal here and already a winner at the track, he will take beating today.

Trained at Coffs Harbour by Trevor Hardy, AHEADOFHISTIME (best odds currently $9 with bet365) has managed four podium finishes here but is yet to crack it for a win but gets his chance today to turn it all around. Last start, the Deep Field gelding took on city-class company at Doomben and wasn’t disgraced when finishing sixth (of 16) in a Class 6 over 1200m. He ran that out, half a length quicker than benchmark, the best in this line-up. Back to country-class racing here, Jasper Franklin has his second ride on him (after finishing second with him, here two starts back) after the claim, looks well placed at the weights. Overdue for a win this time in, he looks right in the mix here today at odds.
