Toowoomba galloper FIRST CROWN (best odds currently $7.50 with bet365) returns from a short city campaign and looks much better placed in this company. Last start, the Hallowed Crown gelding finished unplaced in a BM65 over 1200m against city class gallopers at Doomben with Larry Cassidy aboard. He ran his last 600m, 2.5 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best in this field. His provincial and country form prior to that city campaign was solid, with three-straight podium finishes on his resume. Back to the bush today, he has placed twice from two starts here and has Cassidy sticking with him. Ideally drawn in gate four, he maps to be box-seating on settling and gets his chance to bounce back today and good odds.

The Chris Munce-trained RELIABLE RUBY (best odds currently $4.20 with bet365) has been living up to her name this time in and looks ideally-placed for back-to-back victories today. Last start, the Reliable Man mare resumed from a lengthy six-month break when her fresh legs had her crossing the line ahead of her rivals in a Class 1 over 1050m at Doomben with Larry Cassidy on board. She ran that out, 1.9 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best here by more than 3 lengths. She also posted the fastest final 800m to 200m sectionals for the race. She steps up to Class 2 company today and has Cassidy remaining in the saddle. She gets the run of the race from gate four and coming off a good win, she looks the goods here to keep the trend going today.

The Matt Cropp-trained VAST KAMA (best odds currently $6.50 with Palmerbet) looks a touch ‘overs’ here and lines-up a big chance of beating most of these home today. Last start, the Spirit Of Boom gelding made it two wins from his last three starts when he crossed the line a length ahead of his rivals in a Class 3 over 1000m at the Sunshine Coast. He ran the trip, half a length slower than benchmark, the best in this line-up while recording the fastest final 800m to 200m sectionals for the race as well. From gate four, he maps to settle better than mid-field with cover and finding clean air at the right time should see him powering home in this contest today.
