Race 2 - 12:30PM THE GREAT NORTHERN KILCOY AUTUMN CUP BENCHMARK 75 Handicap (1500 METRES)
Gold Coast galloper BUSHIDO (best odds currently $2.60 with Palmerbet) is in good touch this time in and looks the one to beat here today. Last start, the five-year-old grey led a Class 5 field a merry dance at the Gold Coast before recording a one length victory over the 1400m trip. With Alannah Fancourt on board, he ran that out, 3.6 lengths slower than benchmark, still more than 10 lengths quicker than his rivals here. Fancourt sticks with him here as he drops in class today and making his track debut here, he looks the testing material in country class company.
Race 3 - 1:05PM BECHLYS TRANSPORT TROPHY Class 4 Handicap (1200 METRES)
Alannah Fancourt shoots for a race-to-race double here and with her stats sheet on BRUJA (best odds currently $2.25 with Ladbrokes), she is every chance of pulling it off here. Last start, the Dream Ahead gelding made it back-to-back victories when he took care of a BM62 field over 1300m on a Heavy 8 at the Gold Coast. He led all the way that day, going on to win by a length on the line. All boxes are ticked here with Fancourt riding the three-year-old to all three career wins to date and has the reins again today. The galloper is two from two in heavy going and a winner at his only start here. The scene looks set for another win today.
Race 7 - 3:37PM BUTLER MCDERMOTT LAWYERS BENCHMARK 55 Handicap (1900 METRES)
Toowoomba galloper FRIEND OF GOD (best odds currently $5 with bet365) makes her Kilcoy debut today and has the runs on the board to suggest she will take beating here. Last start, the Trusting mare came off her maiden win at home when she beat all but one to the line in a Class 1 over 1800m at the Sunshine Coast. She ran that out, 5.4 lengths slower than benchmark, a new personal best and the best in this line-up. She also posted the fastest final 200m sectional for the race. Three top-two finishes from as many starts suggests this mare has her eye-in this preparation and looks in the mix here at odds.
