Here are our Naracoorte tips for today:
Race 2 - 1:25PM Western Ag Maiden Plate (1200 METRES)
Caitlin Jones rode PARIS DOLL (Best Odds Currently $11 with TAB) when the mare was well in the market over 1000 metres here on debut. That support came off the back of a trial win and Paris Doll wasn’t the best away come race day. There was some good speed on up front and Paris Doll made her way around them early before becoming unbalanced by the horse to her inside on straightening. Stuck to task okay into the straight, not beaten far in a handy maiden. Followed this run with another okay effort over 1100 metres at Penola against a strong maiden field where she again showed no early gate speed. Jones climbs back aboard in a race where Paris Doll has drawn well towards the middle.
Race 4 - 2:40PM PPHS Benchmark 66 Handicap (2000 METRES)
The ever-green FLOW METER (Best Odds Currently $3.80 with BlueBet) is racing at least as well as anything anywhere now. Trainers John Hickmott & Carrina Riggs have been masterful with their placement of the horse and Flow Meter gets in well again. Came from well off the speed to claim Mug’s Game and score in a benchmark 62 at Oakbank, leaving a gap back to the rest of them. Whacked away okay at Gawler when Toyetic ran the race to suit itself and score this class over 2100 metres. Those two runs were enough for the stable to have a crack at the Country Final at Oakbank where Flow Metre again finished strongly, this time just behind the first two home. Drawn a treat for Maund and on a track he loves can see Flow Meter notch yet another win next to his name.
Race 5 - 3:20PM Trans Australia / Combined Carriers Benchmark 64 Handicap (1430 METRES)
Loved the effort of PEWTER (Best Odds Currently $10 with Ladbrokes) in Open Company at Mount Gambier on Cup Day last start. He came in off the minimum at the weights and lobbed out the back off a very slow tempo. Circled as the widest to hit the line hard in an eye-catching run that said back me next start. Lumps plenty of weight now that he’s back to benchmark 64 class on his home track. Has carried weight to score previously and will give this a shake if they’re running on from the back.
