Here are our Port Macquarie Tips for today:

The Allan Denham-trained McNAIR (best odds currently $5.50 with bet365) was scratched from yesterday’s Tamworth meeting to run here and with most boxes ticked, looks poised for victory here. Last start, the Sidestep gelding finished just behind the placegetters in a BM64 Hcp over the mile on a heavy Gosford track. He ran a new personal best, covering the trip, 2.1 lengths slower than benchmark, still the best here by 3 lengths. He also posted the fastest final 800m sectional for the race. All three career wins to date have come on wet tracks so conditions here look ideal for him today. Drawn the fence and with Andrew Gibbons back aboard, he looks the goods here.

The Kim Waugh-trained BLACK JACAMAR (best odds currently $3.40 with Palmerbet) is second-up today and looks in line for back-to-back victories here. Last start, the Dream Ahead mare was fresh off a lengthy 29-week absence when she overcame interference to win a BM58 Hcp over 1007m on a heavy track at Taree. She ran her last 600m, 2.3 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best in this field by 3 lengths. She also recorded the fastest final 600m, 400m and 200m sectionals for the race. Anna Roper steered her to that victory and sticks with her here. Drawn wide today, her early gate-speed has her crossing to settle in the first half dozen and with a trouble-free run here, she will take beating again.

The locally-trained GOLDEN FANTASY (best odds currently $13 with Palmerbet) is in great touch this time in and looks a solid chance at odds in this contest. Last start, the Dawn Approach mare was third-up when she came off back-to-back podium finishes and destroyed a Class 1 field on a Heavy 9 at Taree. That day, she put more than five lengths on them over the line and covered the trip, 1.9 lengths slower than benchmark, the best in this line-up. She also posted the fastest final 600m, 400m and 200m sectionals for the race. Jeff Kehoe has been aboard for all 13 career starts and remains in the saddle here. Fourth-up today, the mare should be at her peak and on her home-track with conditions to suit, she looks over the odds here and a genuine each-way chance today.
