The Roy Chillemi-trained BOOMED (best odds $3.60 with bet365) is shooting for his fifth-straight podium finish and is overdue for a break today. Last start, the Spirit Of Boom gelding made it back-to-back runner-up finishes when he beat all but one home in a Three-Year-Old Hcp, here over 1300m. He ran the trip 11 lengths slower than benchmark, still the second-best here. He also posted the fastest final 600m, 400m and 200m sectionals for the race. He gets the gun-run from gate two here and maps to settle mid-field on the fence. He should get the dream run on straightening and find a passage through them nearer the inside. Regular stable rider Stephen Wilson sticks with him today after six podium finishes from his nine previous rides. Two wins at the Cluden Park track can turn into three quite easily here.

The locally-trained HELL OF A BOY (best odds $2.20 with bet365) has racked-up seven-straight podium finishes this preparation and looks the role model here again today. Last start, the Eurozone gelding was beaten a whisker on the line when finishing second to Cairns galloper Silent Explorer, here in an Open Hcp over 1400m. He ran the trip, 4.5 lengths quicker than benchmark, setting a new personal best and that effort was the best in this line-up by more than six lengths. Dropping in grade today, he draws the fence and has the experience of local rider Graham Kliese back on board today who has previously won on the four-year-old. He gets the gun-run from that draw and will prove hard to beat today.

The Steve Massingham-trained DELUXE ROCKER (best odds $4.40 with Sportsbet) has stretched the patience span of this tipster to the absolute limit but I am prepared to go one more round with him today. Last start, he put in a shocker (as a $1.70 elect) when finishing unplaced (in a field of six) on his home track in Cairns. He ran his last 600m, 3.8 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best in this field. He is a Cluden Park lover, boasting two wins and two minor placings from his five visits to the track and from gate six he is expected to take a sit behind the mad dash up front that is expected. His chances are enhanced with the return of Marnu Potgeiter who is yet to miss a podium finish on the seven-year-old. After the claim, he carries less weight than last start and now rock-hard fit after four starts this time in, he looks poised to produce his best today.
