Here are our Walcha Tips for today:
Race 3 - 2:45PM JUSTIN KING MEMORIAL WALCHA VET SUPPLIES/ KINGS PHARMACY CLASS 1 HANDICAP (1200 METRES)
Scone galloper FOXSTORM (best odds $3.90 with Sportsbet) sees the Walcha track for the first time today and in current form looks right in the mix here. Last start, the Foxwedge gelding was second-up when finishing third in a Class 1 over 1000m at Muswellbrook, after settling too far back in the event. He ran his last 600m, half a length quicker than benchmark, the best in this line-up. He also finished strongly enough to record the fastest final 800m to 200m sectionals for the race. The extra distance looks ideal for him now and already a winner when third-up, he can give this a real shake today.
Race 6 - 4:40PM GRAZIERS CUP CLASS 2 HANDICAP (1000 METRES)
Wyong galloper BARNEY RABBLE (best odds $6 with Sportsbet) makes his track debut today and is in great touch this time in. Last start, the May’haab gelding hammered his rivals at Newcastle to break through for his maiden win, taking out the 900m event by more than three lengths. He ran the trip, 1.4 lengths slower than benchmark, still the best here. He drew the outside gate (11) that day and with 58.5kgs was still able to knock-up that big win. He draws the fence here and maps to box-seat on settling. Third-up and even fitter, he will take beating today.
Race 7 - 5:20PM ELDERS WALCHA CUP (1440 METRES)
Only three runners are (currently) under double-figures for this year’s cup and we are looking outside all of them today. The Peter Sinclair-trained AH WELL (best odds $11 with Sportsbet) makes the 3.5 hour trip from Moree and in her current form, looks a solid each-way chance here. Last start, the Dream Ballad mare came from last on the turn to finish third in a BM66 over the mile at Tamworth. She ran a new personal best that day, running the trip, 5 lengths slower than benchmark, still the best effort here. She also posted the fastest final 600m, 400m and 200m sectionals for the race. She has drawn wide here but will settle near the tail just the same. Rachel Murray sticks with her today and has a solid record with the mare, boasting two wins and minor money finish from her four previous rides. Already a three-time winner over the trip, she looks sensational odds here and well worth an each-way ticket today.
