Race 2 - 1:25PM PROVEN THOROUGHBREDS HANDICAP BM68 (1300 METRES)
The Gary Portelli-trained REBEL SHADOW (best odds currently $6.50 with bet365) is second-up today and in pursuit of back-to-back victories here. Last start, the Rebel Dane gelding was fresh off a 16-week spell when he clobbered a BM64 field, here on a Heavy 10 over 1100m. He ran the trip, 2.9 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best here by more than 2 lengths. He also posted the fastest final 800m to 200m sectionals for the event. Yet to miss a podium finish in five wet-track starts, he is already a winner when second-up and looks great value in this line-up.
Race 3 - 2:00PM FIRST JUSTIFY YEARLINGS HANDICAP BM72 (2400 METRES)
Chris Waller saddles-up the two favourites here with SHAMLESS MISS (best odds currently $2.80 with Palmerbet) looking the best of them to take this out today. Last start, the Shamexpress mare stepped-up to the 2400m journey and on a Heavy 9, beat all but one home on Randwick’s Kensington track with Tommy Berry aboard. She ran that out, 8.5 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best in this field by more than 3 lengths and a new personal best for her as well. She also recorded the fastest final 800m, 600m and 400m sectionals for the race. Berry sticks with her today and from gate four she maps to settle just behind the early speed. With top-two finishes in four of her six starts this time in, she will take beating here.
Race 6 - 3:45PM SHALAA @ ARROWFIELD HANDICAP BM72 (1200 METRES)
The Team Snowden-trained MIRRA VIEW (Best odds currently $6 with Palmerbet) is in outstanding form this preparation and looks right in the mix here today. Last start, the More Than Ready filly made it back-to-back wins when she took out a BM64 over 1300m on a Heavy 9 at Randwick. She ran a new personal best that day, covering the trip, 3.1 lengths quicker then benchmark, the best in this line-up. She also posted the fastest final 800m and 600m sectionals for that race. Unbeaten in heavy going, she will be at her peak here after three starts back and with two-time winning rider Sam Clipperton sticking with her, she looks the testing material in this field today.
