Wellington Tips Tuesday March 29

Looking for Wellington racing tips? Our form analyst has previewed the meeting and come up with his best bets for Wellington.

Here are our latest Wellington racing tips for today.

The Brett Cavanough- trained ANSELMO (best odds $5 with Unibet) sees the Wellington track for the first time today and brings outstanding form with him that suggests he may be hard to beat here. Last start, the Real Saga gelding finally ended a string of minor money finishes when he broke through for his Maiden win over 1200m at Quirindi. He carried 59kgs that day with Ash Morgan in the saddle. Drawn the fence here, he gets the gun-run and with Morgan retaining the ride, he will take beating.

Third-up today, the Damien Lane-trained BUCKIN’ BEAUTY (best odds $3.70 with Ladbrokes) comes off a short city campaign and looks the goods here today. Two starts back, the Delago Deluxe mare won a heat of the Nightsprint (BM72) at Canterbury, before finishing fourth in the final, which was rated a BM78, at her last start. She ran her last 600m, 1.7 lengths quicker than benchmark (on a Heavy 9), the best in this line-up. This is a much easier assignment and although up in weight, jockey, Jake Barrett, claims 4kgs here which eases the burden. She has a tricky gate today (10) but maps to settle better than mid-field. With a clear run home, she looks a genuine winning chance here.

Racing consistently of late (without winning), the Bjorn Baker-trained ITA (best odds $4 with Unibet) is due for a change of luck and it can all happen here today. Last start, the All Too Hard mare made it a hat-trick of minor placings when she finished third in a BM78 over the mile (on a Heavy 8) at Warwick Farm in a 10-strong field. Ash Morgan is in control today and boasts a 22% success rate with the stable. The mare also has the highest rated personal best effort here, running 11.6 lengths quicker than benchmark, which she achieved over 2000m at Randwick last preparation. Drawn the middle of the field, she maps to settle near mid-field and if she can avoid any trouble in the run, she will take beating today.
