Here are the betting updates for future feature races after last weekend’s results…

GOLDEN EAGLE (1500M)
Never Talk $101-$51 (after finishing third in the Alinghi Stakes at Caulfield)

The fast-finishing effort of Never Talk didn’t escape the all-in market framers when the No Nay Never mare came from last to grab third prize in the Listed Alinghi Stakes (1100m) at Caulfield on Saturday.

COX PLATE (2040M)
Incentivise $9-$6 (after winning Caulfield Cup)

* Unlikely starter (See the Melbourne Cup comments below)

CLASSIQUE LEGEND STAKES (1300M)
Masked Crusader $6-$4.50 (after finishing second in The Everest at Randwick)
Eduardo $8-$6 (after finishing third in The Everest at Randwick)
Lost And Running $13-$9
Trekking $26-$17

Masked Crusader’s slashing effort in The Everest on Saturday wasn’t missed either when he finished an unlucky second behind Nature Strip. Bookies reacted to the grand effort and wound him into outright favouritism for this event.

As honest as the day is long, Eduardo’s effort to finish third in the Everest has seen him shorten a little as well. Lost And Running along with the Godolphin galloper Trekking come in a few points after their efforts (finishing just behind the placegetters) in The Everest.

VICTORIA DERBY (2500M)
Gunstock $8-$4.60 (after winning the Neds Classic at Caulfield)
El Patroness $15-$11
Teewaters $26-$13

Sent out favourite in the Group 3 Neds Classic, Gunstock gave backers no cause for alarm as he won the event by almost two lengths on the line. Accordingly, his price was slashed to almost half what it was and he is now the outright favourite for the Derby at $4.60 with Sportsbet.

EL Patroness and Teewaters boxed on well to fill the minor placings behind Gunstock and have shortened for the Derby as well.

MELBOURNE CUP (3200M)
Incentivise $5-$2.60 favourite (after winning Caulfield Cup)
Persan $34-$17

The Queensland stayer destroyed them in the Caulfield Cup on Saturday, making the 2400m trip look like a walk in the park. Bookmakers acted quickly and slashed his Melbourne Cup price, winding him into $2.60 (with Sportsbet) for the two-mile race.

Persan was sent out a $31 chance in the Cup and ran an honest race to take home third prize after having the job of taking the field up to the leader.

KENNEDY OAKS (2500M)
Vianello $51-$31 (after winning race 2 at Caulfield)

She had to work hard for it, but the Godolphin filly did enough (as the $2.90 favourite) to win the second of the day at Caulfield on Saturday. While bookies wound her in noticeably, she is still at good odds for the Oaks, based on that gutsy win over the 1400m.

BONDI STAKES (1600M)
Vianello $51-$34 (after winning race 2 at Caulfield)
Fangirl $26-$13 (after winning the Reginald Allen at Randwick)

Fangirl’s impressive win in the Listed Reginald Allen Quality (1400m) has seen her price halved with some all-in markets. She is (however) still at $26 with Sportsbet for this race.

THE INVITATION (1400M)
Colette $13-$9 (after winning Tristarc Stakes @ Caulfield)
Promise Of Success $26-$17 (after winning race 10 at Randwick)

Colette was under pressure before the turn (given a few cracks with the whip) in the Group 2 Tristarc Stakes before her class saw her cross the line in first place. Bookies shortened her price here accordingly.

The last to first effort from Promise Of Success in the last race at Randwick on Saturday didn’t go unnoticed either as bookies shaved his all-in market price for The Invitation. Although beating home a BM78 field is a fair way from the class in this event, his turn of foot over the final 200m was something to see.

CANTALA STAKES (1600M)
Buffalo River $26-$18 (after winning the Moonga Stakes @ Caulfield)

The Michael Moroney-trained galloper did it hard early but eventually found the front and fought on gamely to take out the Moonga Stakes over 1400m when third-up. The six-year-old ran second in last year’s Toorak Hcp over the mile and he appears to be ready now for the step up in distance.

* Also worth noting was the effort of King Magnus who came from well back to finish second (less than a length away) behind Buffalo River. His all-in market price hasn’t changed with Sportsbet, still at $34 for this race.

EMPIRE ROSE (1600M)
Colette $10-$5 (after winning Tristarc Stakes @ Caulfield)
Steinem $26-$17
Nimalee $26-$17
Promise Of Success $34-$21 (after winning r10 @ Randwick)

Steinem and Nimalee have come in slightly after their noticeable performances behind Colette in the Tristarc Stakes.

VRC SPRINT (1200M)
Nature Strip $4-$3 (after winning TAB Everest @ Randwick)
Masked Crusader $5-$4.50
Eduardo $8-$6
Lost And Running $17-$13
