Mississippi Delta is the $2.60 favourite to capture Saturday’s Group 2 Perth Cup (2400m) at Ascot.

Trained by Grant and Alana Williams, six-year-old mare Mississippi Delta will be ridden by leading jockey William Pike. She was fourth in the Perth Cup last year and jumps from barrier 11.

Mississippi Delta was a winner first up this prep in the Group 3 RJ Peters Stakes (1500m). She has since run ninth in the Group 1 Kingston Town Classic (1800m) and fourth in the Group 2 Ted Van Heemst Stakes (2100m).

Star Exhibit is second favourite at $4.00. The Adam Durrant-trained eight-year-old gelding was third in the Ted Van Heemst last start. He was 13th in the Kingston Town Stakes prior to that. Star Exhibit was a first-up winner back in November when defeating Gatting in the Group 2 Lee Steere Stakes (1400m).

Taxagano is a $7.00 chance for trainer Fred Kersley. He is a last start winner of the Listed GA Towton Cup (2200m).

The only other runner in single figures is Spiritual Warrior at $9.00.
