Having her seventh attempt at shaking the maiden monkey today, QLD galloper DREAM ENTITY (best odds $3.70 with Ladbrokes) comes south of the border for the second time to try and make it happen. Last start the Dream Ahead filly beat all but one home after giving them a good start. On a Heavy 10 that day, she ran the trip, 6.7 lengths slower than benchmark, still the best in this field and that was a new personal best for her as well. She now has a hat-trick of runner-up finishes and is in line for a change of luck today. After the claim, she has just 54kgs to carry here and from gate seven, she maps to settle just off the pace. With a trouble-free run here, she looks a genuine chance to notch-up win number one today.

Finally cracking the maiden status, the Barry Lockwood-trained COME IN SPINNER (best odds $6 with Palmerbet) looks well placed here to go back-to-back today. Last start, the patience of Lockwood paid off as the Jimmy Choux gelding broke through for his maiden win after an agonising 29 starts. With no less than 17 minor placings behind him, he stepped out onto a Heavy 10 at Beaudesert and blitzed his rivals, putting almost four lengths on them in the 1200m Maiden. He ran the trip, 5 lengths slower than benchmark, still the best here but his final 600m was outstanding, running it out, 5.9 lengths quicker than standard, more than 5 lengths better than this field. He also posted the fastest overall sectionals for the event. It was a long time coming but he has really found his mojo now. If he can reproduce that here, he will be hard to hold out again.

First-up today, the Lismore galloper AMIRYKAL (best odds $3.10 with Sportsbet) should thrive in the conditions and give this field something to think about. Last start, the Akeed Mofeed mare ended her last campaign with a win in a Class 2 over 1006m at Grafton. She ran the trip, 4.9 lengths slower than benchmark, still the best here and ran her last 600m, 2.8 lengths quicker than standard as she also posted the best overall sectionals in the race. Kirk Matheson sticks with her here as her resume shows she is a track and distance winner and has two victories on heavy tracks as well. Ideally drawn in gate two today, she maps to do no work as she box-seats behind the pace. If she gets the clean air run, she will be hard to hold out today.
