HOUSE SPOUSE ($1.85 with Sportsbet) can go on with the job in Race 7 of the day. The Patrick Payne-trained galloper was a debut winner at Echuca by a lazy six-length margin, while there was a four length gap back to 3rd. There are question marks on those that he beat but he did win with a bit in hand and went three lengths slower than overall benchmark figures, which are the best last start numbers of any runner in this race. The son of Reliable Man has attracted support in the early betting and with improvement to come at his second start, he should be too good for these from barrier 3.

The final event of the day is a BenchMark 64 over the 1300m and YELDARB ($3.40 with Palmerbet) looks well placed in this grade. The Daniel McCarthy-trained galloper gets his favoured conditions and was a winner on the Heavy in a BM58 two starts ago over the 1170m at Wangaratta before heading to Wagga and just peaking late when run down by Mad As Zariz, who found the better going. The son of Nicconi saves his best for Heavy ground and with Bendigo a Heavy 10 heading into the meeting he will take some beating. Look for him to settle in a midfield position with the 3kg claimer, Kiran Quilty, on board.
