Race 4 – 2:15PM TAB FEDERAL (2000 METRES)
The Luke Pepper-trained ROSEBANK has been a real model of consistency since resuming from a 34-week break and boasts an incredible recent record of finishing top-three in her past nine-straight races, winning three of them. Two starts back, she destroyed BM58 against her own sex, winning the 1400m event by almost four lengths on the line. Then last start, she stepped up to the mile (1600m) and gave the leader too much start, beating home all but Assault‘n’bathory on an unfavourable wet track that day. She is stepping up to the 2000m here for the first time but who can argue with the form she is in. Amy McLucas remains aboard after partnering the mare at her past two starts. The Helmet mare rates highly here.
Race 6 – 3:35PM TAB LONG MAY WE PLAY HANDICAP (1000 METRES)
Three starts into this preparation and NEVADA DANE has already notched-up another win which puts him in the mix here. Second-up of an 18-week spell, he finished third in a Class 3 over 1000m on a Heavy 9 at Wagga. Then fitter last start, he improved enough to grab victory at Albury in a BM66 after being headed near the line. Nick Souquet makes the trip to the nation’s capital after riding the six-year-old at his past two runs. The galloper faces similar company here and provided the California Dane gelding can manage the 2.5kg weight rise, he will give them something to chase in this.
