Race 2 - 12:20PM BY OTHERS PLATE (1080 METRES)
Best Bet 🏆No. 6 EVANORA $2.35 Bet Now!
The locally-trained EVANORA (Best Odds $2.35 with Sportsbet) is third-up here and looks poised to break through with a Maiden victory today. Last start, the Magic Albert filly improved on her first-up effort when she beat all but one home in a Sapphire Coast Maiden over 1207m. Leading form barrier rise, she looked the winner but was grabbed by a swooper on the post. Placed twice from two previous second-up runs, she will strip fitter for that first-up effort and dropping back in distance here, she could prove even harder to run down.
Race 5 - 2:15PM TAB FEDERAL (1080 METRES)
Next Best 🥈No. 1 CALESCENT $3.00 Bet Now!
Three starts into this preparation and the Matthew Dale-trained CALESCENT (Best Odds $3 with Sportsbet) returns from a city hit-out and looks well placed here to score on the synthetic track today. Last start, the Sizzling mare boxed-on strongly to take home second prize in a BM72 on a Heavy 10 at Canterbury. She ran that trip, 2.2 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best in this line up and she is the only runner here to finish under benchmark last start. She drops back to country racing today and is down a little in grade as well. The four-year-old is a winner on the course proper here and fourth up today should be rock solid in fitness and prove hard to beat.
Race 8 - 4:10PM BACKCHARGE HANDICAP (1206 METRES)
Best Value 💰No. 5 GRAZIE $9.50 Bet Now!
The Barbara Joseph Team saddle-up GRAZIE (Best Odds $9.50 with Bet365) here who is fourth-up and should now be ready to produce his best today. Last start, the Nicconi gelding sat behind a fast pace at the Sapphire Coast and didn’t have enough left to figure in a podium finish, beaten two lengths in the BM58 contest over 1207m. He drops in weight here and is joined by Kayla Nisbet for the first time. Drawn the fence, he gets the gun-run and maps to be box-seating on settling. Fitter for those three runs back, we should see further improvement in the three-year-old and he looks a genuine winning chance in this field.
