CASINO TIPS – june 25
RACE PREVIEWS 🧐
Race 5 – 2:55PM CASINO RSM CLUB CLASS 2 HANDICAP (1400 METRES)
Second-up today, the Michael Costa-trained WILLO TITTO (No.2) looks well-placed here to bring up win number three for his resume. Nicely-bred, by Pierro out of a Commands mare, the four-year-old has returned from a lengthy six-month spell in good touch. After placing in both barrier trials, she returned to racing at Toowoomba in a BM62 over 1300m (on a Soft 5) and fared well on fresh legs. She settled mid-field that day and gradually worked her way through the field. She was five-wide in the run home and did well to finish third behind Maddiara and Addocarr. She will find this (country) Class 2 a bit easier and is already a second-up winner. The forecast Soft 7 will only enhance her chances here with her wet track record, placing three times on soft tracks and having a win on heavy ground as well. The talented Ben Looker jumps aboard for his first ride on the mare and from an ideal draw in gate two, she looks the ticket here.
Race 6 – 3:35PM PRD NATIONWIDE CASINO BENCHMARK 66 HANDICAP (1400 METRES)
Unbeaten so far this preparation, MACCHINA VOLANTE (No.2) is shooting for his fourth-straight win here and looks well-placed to pull it off. The Stewart Campbell-trained three-year-old won back-to-back races on his home track at Murwillumbah before heading to Grafton last start where he looked even more impressive. Jumping from Class 1 to BM66, the Hinchinbrook gelding took the bit between the teeth and ‘officially’ won the event. First past the post (Simply Sacred) was disqualified for weighing in light when returning to scale. Macchina Volante ran home strongly and despite tending to lay-in, he still finished three lengths ahead of the rest in the run home. He meets similar company here and has an extra 3kgs to carry but I can’t see that as a concern with the mood he is in lately. Unbeaten this time in and unbeaten on wet tracks, the forecast Soft 7 will be ideal for the galloper here and he looks great value sporting that resume today.
