Here are our Clare Tips:

SIR JOHNSON just missed his opposition late at his only start her, which was back in March last year. Since won second-up on the spacious Balaklava track, getting up in the last few bounds to deny subsequent winner Zume Forward. He than ran into a rampant Leonarda on his temporary home deck of Port Lincoln, beating the rest comfortably. Coming back in trip from his latest effort over 1390m behind Paulo Pace could suit as he does run well with some freshness. Clare is a tricky course to handle and it is an advantage to know that he has raced well here in the past.

Felt last start was the time to hop aboard the IGITUR train and put in a massive run on his home deck of Strathalbyn. Missing the kick initially before settling back and wide, the inexperienced young rider got Igitur on a searching run. There was a hot speed set by The Red Sea up front which made any of those long early race movers work hard for position. Entitled to drop out, Igitur instead showed his durability by holding ground to the line. He is another who won’t be asking for a lot of rain, preferring it dry instead. Still no duffer if he needs to get his toe in though. This race is not clear cut with most of these horses all beating each other at some point in their careers. Being run at Clare could really suit Igitur, and Kayla Crowther often rates these strong types well.

SAND CAT is another who we know races well around Clare, her three starts for two wins and a second here tells that tale. We were on last start at her home track of Strathalbyn where she got back to the inside section a bit and just held ground to the line behind Apollo Jet. We were impressed with the form of her previous two runs, finishing close-up to Zume Forward and Khani Star. She would prefer the rains not to have too much affect on the track, and she can give this a big shake today.
