DONALD TIPS – JUNE 5
Race 6 – 3:00PM MICHAELS OF DONALD BM64 HANDICAP (1350 METRES)
Race 6 at Donald is a BenchMark 64 and WIN FALL can go on with the job after claiming her Maiden in convincing fashion at Geelong when resuming on May 15. On that occasion, the Henry Dwyer filly settled just worse than midfield in the three-wide trail and loomed up in the straight before taking over and winning by two from Cherokoh. She was 3.7 lengths slower than benchmark but those figures are better than the last start effort that her rivals produces in the races they came out of, while she she can raise the bar at her second run back. The daughter of Shooting To Win has drawn ideally in barrier 3 and should be hard to beat.
Race 8 – 4:00PM BET365 BM64 HANDICAP (1620 METRES)
KNOCK KNOCK lines up in Race 8 of the day for the Paul Preusker stable and should be ready to fire with the three runs under his belt this preparation. He was a close up 3rd when resuming at Stawell on April 12 and didn’t do much on the Heavy when heading to Sandown after that but his last start effort at Bendigo was promising, running on from the tail of the field to finish 5th behind Reckoning. On that occasion he was carted out wide in the straight but ran his last 600m almost five lengths quicker than benchmark despite laying in. He gets out to the trip for the first time in his career and will get back from the wide barrier but should be strong at the end with the cart into the race from the big field.
Race 9 – 4:30PM GOLDACRES BM64 HANDICAP (1000 METRES)
The sprinters tackle the 1000m and BASTYAN looms as an each-way contender in the getout. The Patrick Payne-trained three-year-old resumes after last appearing at Warrnambool back in February but goes well when fresh and was 3rd on debut at the track and trip two preparations ago, while he also filled the minors at Morphettville when fresh last time, running quicker than benchmark in that race. The consistent type has won or placed in five of his six career starts and gets the steer from Billy Egan, who has been on fire in recent times. With luck in running from barrier 11, the pair can go very close.
