Eagle Farm ‘Race Rescue’ & ‘Price Push’ Plays of the Day
QLD thoroughbred racing takes place at Eagle Farm on Saturday, July 4, where we have found a standout for the card and roughie chance to consider.
Race 4 – 1:28PM TATTERSALL’S CLUB MEMBERS BENCHMARK 75 Handicap (1400 METRES)
Some wet tracks in Queensland in recent months have seen some gallopers failing to handle the conditions and expecting some form reversals at Eagle Farm on what is likely to be better conditions.
One of those is my Palmerbet Race Rescue selection in the Tony Gollan trained LASHONI over the 1400m.
She was well supported into favouritism at Doomben last start but struck a deteriorating track and was always a mile off them and not pushed out when she had little hope from the corner.
She had finished off solidly at her previous start on a Good track at Gold Coast when ran into minor placing.
Gets back on firmer track here and although she will be giving them a start on the corner at double figure odds, she offers good value for the rescue players.
Race 7 – 3:22PM G.H. MUMM QTIS Three-Years-Old Handicap (1200 METRES)
The John O’Shea stable brings up what looks a highly promising 3yo colt up North in QUANTICO.
He was ridden quietly out the back at Newcastle last start before being pulled to middle track and showing a sharp turn-of-hoof to put the race beyond doubt in a couple of strides.
Ran the best sectional for the 1200m that day and sure to strip much fitter out of that run.
This is a much harder task to take on at only second start this campaign but he has drawn perfectly and should get all the favours.
Think he can progress to better races during the winter carnival and should start his Queensland career with a win.
With the advantage of Palmerbet Price Push should get some odds that we will not see for this colt again this winter.
