Race 6 3:05pm COOPERS XPA BM58 HCP (1500m)
ANCIENT HISTORY was probably better known as a miler in his earlier days before Dean Saxon took him over keeping him fresh and maintained while just restricting him to the kinder racing surfaces. Got a long way back and never a chance under the 61kg at Balaklava which ended up being a nice top off to bring him to Gawler over this distance on a similar Soft 6 track to what we’ll find on Wednesday. They didn鈥檛 go hard and Todd Pannell was able to keep him handy and really, he was bolting from a long way out. That was his first win on a Soft track, good to see he can get it done in these conditions plus he’s drawn beautifully again to repeat the result.

Race 7 3:40pm G&J CIVIL BM56 HCP (1100m)
FERGIE keeps showing steady improvement at each of her career runs and while it鈥檚 typical of the Sue Jaench stable not engage their horses in public jumpouts prior to resumption, we know she generally brings her horses to the track feeling fit and well. Easy kill this trip Bordertown then her two subsequent runs in town were solid over slightly further. Think she has ability to pick a race up in town and this is not a deep race, really shouldn鈥檛 be too far off them early and drawn to find what ever part of the track suits.

Race 8 4:15pm CORNERSTONE STUD STANDING SIR PRANCEALOT 0-58 (1200m)
AQUANAUT could easily have been engaged in the BM54 1200 on his home track at Pt Augusta, instead his master Dennis McMahon has decided to make the trek to Gawler and I’m with him here. Big fella who should get better as he puts the runs under his belt, I thought he was a brave effort against these 2nd up similar conditions when he stuck on gamely nearer the inside. I would prefer this race to be run earlier in the day before we perhaps see that inside section chop out. At least those who swooped late on him last time won鈥檛 have the advantage of being able to use momentum off the camber as they did last time when the rail was out 6m. Back to the true and stripping fitter, happy to have something on Aquanaut to finish the day.
