RACE PREVIEWS 🧐
Race 6 – 3:10PM GOSFORD RSL BENCHMARK 64 HANDICAP (2100 METRES)
Locally-trained by John Cooper, ARABOLINI (No.7) is in great touch this time in and looks nicely-placed here to go back-to-back today. The German-bred gelding is a front-running type and two starts back was unlucky to go down by a narrow margin in a Class 1 at Newcastle. Leading most of the way, he was run down in the final 100 metres by Lando Bay and Soul Purpose to finish third, beaten a length on the line. Then last start, with Jeff Penza remaining aboard, they adopted similar tactics and despite carrying 59kgs, proved too good in the run home, winning the Class 1/Maiden event over 2100m by more than a length. Top Sydney hoop Tim Clark jumps aboard for his first ride on the four-year-old and from gate two, should have little trouble finding the front or thereabouts. He drops 2kgs from his last start win and in the wet conditions may prove hard to run down.
Race 8 – 4:25PM BIGGER BACKYARD CENTRAL COAST BENCHMARK 64 HANDICAP (1600 METRES)
Looking the best each-way bet all day is topweight IN YA SKYROCKET (No.1) who comes off a last start win and after the claim, will carry less weight today. Two starts back, he drew the car park (gate 12 of 12) at Casino in a strong Class 3 that day and did it tough in the run. He found the front inside the last 400m but was run down in the final 100m and had to settle for second prize. Then last start, he dropped back to BM58 grade and had a new rider aboard. Apprentice Kyle Wilson-Taylor had the reins and with 60kgs aboard, went on to win the 1430m event on a Heavy 8 track. The four-year-old has won three of his past four starts and looks way overs today. He carries just 57.5kgs after the claim and looks a solid each-way chance here.
