Kembla Grange galloper KOBESTAR (best odds $2.85 with bet365) is second-up today and looks well placed in this easier affair and should prove hard to beat. Last start, the Star Witness gelding was fresh off an 18-week spell when he lined up in a BM64 over 1000m on his home track. Unwanted in the market ($26), he settled mid-field and finished strongly to beat all but one home that day. He ran his last 600m, 6.5 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best here by 4 lengths. He also posted the fastest final 800m-200m sectionals for the event. Tommy Berry returns for the ride after steering the galloper to his maiden win five starts back. Making his track debut today, he maps to settle mid-field with cover and if he can find a clear passage home, he should be there at the finish.

Warwick Farm galloper MICRONA (best odds $2.30 with Sportsbet) has found his mojo of late and will take catching here today. Last start, the Choistar gelding gave his rivals a galloping lesson when he led all the way to win a BM64 over 1800m at Hawkesbury. With Regan Bayliss aboard, he showed them how it was done that day as he put more than three lengths on them over the line. He ran the trip, 1.5 lengths slower than benchmark the best in this line-up and set a new personal best for himself as well. Bayliss remains aboard here and a similar set of race tactics just might test this field out. He maps to cross and lead and has the speed of the race at his mercy. He looks the goods today.

The Kristen Buchanan-trained EYEWITNESS (best odds $2.80 with bet365) is a promising filly who can get the job done here today. Last start, the Star Witness filly was second-up off a 16-week spell where she took on BM68 company and led from barrier to box to win comfortably over 100m on her home track at Wyong. In slowly run affair, she covered the trip, 7.3 lengths slower than benchmark, the third-best here. Jason Collett was aboard that day and rode her in a recent barrier trial as well, where she put four lengths on the other six runners. She drops in grade today and with a lot of early speed here, Collett may even decide to take a sit behind the rush up front. Either way, fitter for two runs back, she looks the testing material in this contest and is our best of the day.
