Here are our Horsham Tips for today:
Race 5 - 3:40PM Locks Constructions BM70 Handicap (1200 METRES)
PIONEER RIVER ($2.90 with ladbrokes) gets his chance in Race 5 of the day. The new addition to the Maher/Eustace stable has not won in just over a year but has been competitive in town in recent times. The four-year-old comes in with six weeks in between runs and was 3rd at Sandown behind Crestani at his latest, while he was a close up 5th down the Flemington straight prior to that. He has gone faster than standard benchmark in all of his runs this time in, while he does tend to race well on the fresh side. Look for him to land in the running line with John Allen on board and he should be strong late in the piece.
Race 7 - 4:50PM Millers Horsham Cup (2100 METRES)
Race 7 is the Horsham Cup and it is ORLEANS ROCK ($3.30 with Sportsbet) that can take out the feature. The local from the Paul Preusker camp gets back out to a suitable distance and stuck on for 4th at Hamilton in a BenchMark 70 behind Cafe Tortoni over the 1600m just over a week ago. Earlier on this preparation he went from the 1600m to the 2000m and was 3rd at Flemington behind Furrion, while he is sure to enjoy a track with a bit of sting out of the ground after some recent rain. The son of Rock’n’Pop should enjoy an even tempo with the likes of Equine Philosopher and Kings Full to push forward. Dean Holland rides and has provided a 16% profit on turnover when combining with this stable.
Race 8 - 5:25PM Manhari Metals BM70 Hcp (1400 METRES)
RIOT AND ROSE ($3.70 with Sportsbet)creates a stack of interest in the final event of the day at Horsham. He is first up from a 20 week spell and monitor the market but he could not have been more impressive in his three starts to date, winning those by a combined margin of more than seven lengths. He went 10 lengths faster than standard in the most recent of those at Caulfield back in May when defeating Rathlin and might be a bit untapped. The wide barrier isn’t a huge concern and he was a winner on the Soft on debut back in April.
