Race 5 - 4:10PM MID RICHMOND PLUMBERS & SUPPLIES CG&E BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP (1310 METRES)
Grafton-based galloper FRANKLIN CORNERS (best odds $2.90 with Sportsbet) is in great touch since resuming this time in and already showing a liking to this track, looks the testing material today. Last start, the Unencumbered gelding was second-up when he contested a BM58, here over 1310m. Ridden by Matthew Bennett that day, he was unwanted in the market ($14) but still proved too good in the end, winning by 1.5 lengths on the line. He ran that trip, a whisker slower than benchmark, the best here by more than 5 lengths, as he set a new personal best as well. He ran the equal-fastest final 200m sectional for the event. He is back here today looking for back-to-back wins and with Bennett sticking with him, he looks set to achieve that goal today and goes to the gates our Best Bet 🏆 of the day for Lismore.
Race 6 - 4:55PM CONNECT BUSINESS SOLUTIONS F&M BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP (1310 METRES)
We were on her last Monday at Murwillumbah (where she finished third), now back on her home track, BEEF WEEK PRINCESS (best odds $6.00 with bet365) gets her chance to avenge that loss today. In her usual racing style, the Casino Prince mare dropped out to last on settling (as expected) and the flaw in her effort that day was she gave them too much start. She still stormed home to grab third prize, 1.5 lengths away from the winner’s cheque. No benchmarking stats are available for that race but she did run the fastest final 600m and 200m sectionals for the event. On the short back-up here, she has Matty McGuren back aboard today, who ironically rode the winner in her last start event, and his resume boasts a win and two runner-up finishes from three previous rides on the mare. Already a winner on soft tracks and boasts four top-two finishes from five home-track starts to date, From gate two today I believe she can get the cash here at good odds.
Race 7 - 5:30PM THE BOWLO HOLIDAY CABINS EVANS HEAD CUP CLASS 3 HANDICAP (1110 METRES)
Gold Coast visitor SHEEZASINGA (best odds $5 with BlueBet) makes her track debut today and three starts into this campaign she looks worthy of consideration in this line-up. Last start, the Whittington mare took on city class company for the first time when she lined-up in a Class 3 over 1050m at Doomben. She held her own that day, finishing mid-field in the end, beaten less than two lengths on the line. She ran the trip out, 2.7 lengths quicker than benchmark, setting herself a new personal best and that effort is the best in this field by more than 4 lengths. Dropping back to country class today, Matthew Bennett has the reins for the first time and sporting a tongue tie again, the mare will be super-fit after those three runs and should prove hard to hold out here.
