Moe Tips – June 25
RACE PREVIEWS 🧐
Race 5 – 2:30PM S & S Equipment HIre BM58 Handicap (2423 METRES)
The stayers line up over the mile and a half and the veteran galloper, LIKE THE CLAPPERS, shapes as one of the better bets of the day. The 10-year-old drops in grade for this and was handy off a wide run when runner-up behind Yulong Captain at Swan Hill on the Queens Birthday weekend recently. He did all the chasing in that race, which was his first over the 2400m this preparation. Last year, he was pretty good when getting out to this range, finishing runner-up at Sandown in a BM70 and placing in a BM78 at Geelong. He is likely to get his preferred Heavy going and should get the run of the race from barrier 2 with the 2kg claimer, Jaden Lloyd, to ride.
Race 7 – 3:30PM Moe Optical Class 1 Handicap (1008 METRES)
I’m keen on one at massive odds in Race 7 of the day and that horse is TROTSIE, who was a last start winner over the 1100m in a Maiden here on June 14. In that race, the three-year-old found the lead in the early stages and kicked clear in the straight before hanging on to win by just under a length from Barangaready, while there was a two length gap back to 3rd. He ran 1.5 lengths slower than benchmark, which is good relative to this grade and much better than the last start figures of any other runner except Bastyan, who will need to be good from barrier 13 with the 61.5 kegs on his back. The 3kg claimer, Jessie Philpot, stays on board and if he can run up to his last start effort he can go close at the price.
