Here are our Moe race tips:

On Benchmark (BM) ratings, SURANGANI ($4.60 with Ladbrokes) is an absolute standout in Race 4. Last start, the daughter of Ready For Victory finished 6th of eight at Sandown over 1300m and ran 1.1 lengths quicker than standard BM. That’s eight lengths quicker than standard for this class, and 8.8 lengths quicker than the next best last start performance of any other runner. Only one other horse, Swindon Lass, has gone better than 6.2 lengths slower than standard, but that was over 2000m and 2500m last campaign – she needs longer than a mile. The only query on Surangani is the Heavy track on Thursday, however, her dam, Miss Shakira, is a winner on Soft to Heavy ground in the UK and I’m hoping that translates to Surangani handling the wet. She should improve off that first-up effort and looks hard to beat.

Apprentice hoop Josh Richards is riding extremely well and teams up with Ciaron Maher and David Eustace, and that jockey/trainer combo is striking at 40.9% with nine wins from 22 runners. Richards guided OCEAN HEART ($4 with Ladbrokes) to victory on a Heavy Ballarat track last start and they can go back-to-back here. Ocean Heart improved with each start in her first preparation and produced strong figures sixth and seventh-up going 2.2 and 3.0 lengths quicker than BM over the mile. With four runs under her belt this time, including a much-improved effort last start going 0.3 of a lengths quicker than standard, she looks set to improve again and gets similar conditions here with a Heavy 8.
