Here are our Mornington Tips for today:

ORRONG ROAD can break the Maiden in Race 4 of the day at Mornington. The Dean Binaisse-trained galloper battled at his last run but it may pay to overlook that effort, which came at Moonee Valley over the 1600m. In that race, he botched the start and was trapped wide day before floundering late in the piece. At his start prior, he just missed out in narrow fashion behind Baglioni when runner-up to that horse at Cranbourne over the 1600m. Prior to that, he was runner up to Drop The Mic over the 1400m at Echuca. A firmer in early betting, his recent benchmark figures stack up well in comparison to his rivals, and Jamie Mott will look to settle a little closer on board the five-year-old from the wide barrier. With luck in running, the son of Toorak Toff can take this out.

Race 5 of the day is a Class 1 over the 2025m distance and EL VINCITORE looks well placed. The Maher/Eustace galloper jumped sharply in trip from the 1500m to the 2000m last time at Ballarat and was working his way into it but had to be steadied at a vital time in the straight. Despite this, he managed to finish on the heels of the placegetters in 4th position and went 1.3 lengths slower than standard, which are the best last start figures of any runner in this race. The son on Medaglia D’Oro should have plenty of fitness in the tank after four runs this time in and has drawn to get a lovely trail from barrier 3.

FUNDRAISER can close the day out a winner for the Dabernig/Hayes camp. The four-year-old resumed at Geelong at the recent Geelong Cup meeting at the venue and did well to finish in the money behind The Astrologist after being caught out wide for the 1100m journey. At his last campaign he claimed his maiden on resumption before running 3rd behind Charleise over the 1300m at Sandown in a BM64. That race produced a number of future winners and he did improve a couple of lengths on standard benchmark figures between his first and second runs last time. The son of Helmet comes to Mornington and is likely to race on speed, which is usually a tick at the venue and with Daniel Stackhouse in the saddle he should be hard to beat.
