Here are our Mornington Tips for today:
Race 5 - 3:30PM Catanach's Jewellers Handicap (1200 METRES)
NO SHAME ($4 with Palmerbet) should be hard to beat in Race 5 of the day at Mornington. The Richard Laming-trained galloper has finished in the top three in each of her past five runs. She ran on from the tail to fill he exacta behind Joltin Joe at Moe two starts ago in a BenchMark 64, before dropping to this grade on September 30 and missing out in narrow fashion behind Miss Sarasota. The daughter of Shamus Award boasts the best last start benchmark figures of any runner in this race and is the only horse in the field to break standard this year, doing so when 3rd at Sandown four starts ago. Recent runs have been on the Heavy so she should get through the ground, while she has drawn barrier 1, which can be a positive at Mornington.
Race 6 - 4:00PM Rosebud Country Club Handicap (1500 METRES)
JESTA DREAMA ($4.20 with Sportsbet) can strike in Race 6. The eight-year-old comes in at peak fitness and has finished runner-up at his past couple. They include one in BenchMark 78 grade two starts ago at Cranbourne before bumping into Narvaez at Geelong on September 29. In his recent run he had to come out very deep before driving hard to just miss out. When fifth up last year he was a big improver on benchmark figures when two lengths off Sunday Pray at Sandown, while he should get the run of the race from barrier 2.
Race 7 - 4:30PM Musk Creek Farm Handicap (2050 METRES)
I don’t mind MILESTONE ($14 with Sportsbet) in Race 7 of the day at Mornington. Not a lot went right for the Trent Busuttin & Natalie Young-trained galloper at Moonee Valley on October 1 when finishing 8th of nine runners. He worked home prior to that when fresh at Bendigo, while he should find this easier than his recent run. The six-year-old comes into this third up and at his last preparation he improved nine lengths on benchmark figures when a four length 7th in BM78 grade at Sandown over the 2100m. That form reads well for this and he should find the tempo more to his liking in this race in comparison to his latest. Michael Dee rides and the pair will jump from barrier 5.
