Here are our Murray Bridge tips for today:

We’d be mad to drop off HEKA EXPRESS (Best Odds Currently $2.30 with Palmerbet) following her dominant win here last start. We felt she was the perfect Gifford Hill horse, and the Searle Training Corp delivered in spades with their recent acquisition. We were somewhat concerned that young Ellis Wong not being patient enough into the run. It soon became obvious that the mare was just trucking underneath him from a long way out and he couldn’t hold her slow enough. Heka Express duly romped away for a comfortable win in sharp time. Obviously rises a class level now, time and the way she won last time would suggest she’s well in this.

Last start winner DEXTER YOU DEVIL (Best Odds Currently $3.60 with Sportsbet) has clearly come back in good order. Missed the start first-up in the Christmas Handicap where we’d expect the open class sprinters to be too sharp. Still held ground okay regardless in flying-fast time. Since lumped the grandstand with 65kg to score second-up at Bordertown. Trainer Shayne Cahill retains the ride on the stable champ who looks a ready-made Gifford Hill horse. He does have some weight to lump again in what looks as slowly run race on paper. Carried similar when a close-up third this track and trip in a BM82 last prep.

Soon to be globe-trotting Caitlin Jones has the ride on #SABlackbookers horse SANBLAS (Best Odds Currently $21 with Sportsbet). Sanblas became our only black booker out of the latest Murray Bridge meeting after racing first-up over 1000 metres. That was in the Heka Express race where he was backed in from $32 to a Starting Price of $15 (Did touch 12’s). Surprised us a little in having the pace to sit right on the hot speed with some classy animals. The NT Derby winner will be better suited as he goes up in trip, and the 1200 metres at Gifford Hill could suit. No doubt should have finished closer to the place getter’s, and we’ll respect that market move.
