Muswellbrook Tips – March 22
Race 7 – 4:45PM COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS WILD CARD (1280 METRES)
Here we have a field of runners with the opportunity to sneak into the Championships ‘through the back door’ if you wish and TWO BIG FARI looks well-placed on his home track to give it a real shake. The Todd Howlett-trained gelding has impressed so far winning four of his six career starts, and yet ironically, is yet to race here on his home track. He won his maiden at Tamworth at his second start, then went back-to-back at the same track, winning a BM58 with 59kgs on his back. After finishing second in a Class 2 at Newcastle, he was taken to Sydney where he won a Class 3 at Rosehill over 1400m with Brenton Avdulla aboard. He stepped in class again last start and won again, beating home a BM70 field at Warwick Farm over the same trip. He carried 59kgs that day and drew the car park in gate 13 (of 13). He has drawn wide again here, jumping from gate 11 and with plenty of early pace in the race, a forward position will be an advantage so jockey Grant Buckley should be pushing for a spot near the pace. Coming off two-straight city wins, he looks right in the mix here and currently is great each-way value.
