Here are our Naracoorte tips for today:

DISSOLUTE (Best Odds Currently $8.50 with Palmerbet) has won twice for Stacey Metcalfe and John Macmillan. The first came off a six-week freshen-up, after crossing from the NSW border to score in a BM64 at Penola. Dissolute showed plenty of early speed to lead a handy field, kicking strongly under Metcalfe to hold out the challengers. The team repeated the dose over this track and distance at their next start, again in a BM64. This time, Metcalfe asked Dissolute to stalk the early speed before they pounced on them by the 200m to prove too strong. He’s coming into this off a similar break, and should roll forward under Metcalfe once again.

Promising filly ANRUSHKA (Best Odds Currently $3.90 with Sportsbet) is coming off a strong win at Edenhope over 1200m. We backed her when runner-up to Sweet Distraction over 1100m as she raced second-up at Penola. Jeff Maund was able to settle her around Sweet Distraction, a few lengths off the early leader. These two made their runs together, and we were impressed enough with the winner to back her next start. Sweet Distraction fell agonizingly short for us that day as our $23 Best Bet, while Anrushka went onto prove the form at Edenhope. Libby Halliday sent her forward under her 3kg claim, and Anrushka was too fast, too strong for them. She’s fitter now for those three runs back, and that extra bit of race experience can only help too.

We made KZSCZOT (Best Odds Currently $6 with Bet365) one of our selections when racing on debut at Morphettville Parks. We knew, and of course, still know the concerns around this horse being a little slow on stepping. Still, that second public barrier trial around Thrill Kill shows there’s some ability there. Very nearly wrote his name into the SA Blackbook following his effort in town that day. Instead, we chose to just bite down on the pencil for now. He was slow to gather his feet in a fast-run 1000m race that was won by Royal Obsession, who led and kicked. Kzsczot found himself around 10L off the leader, before getting into his work in the last half of the race. Big run to end up just over 5L off her in the end, as the time of that race rates highly. Racing over the 1430m now can only help, and I don’t mind the wide draw either.
