Here are our Penola tips for today:

PELEDARA Has had the three runs back now and showed he’s ready to break through when he took up a more forward position in finishing a close-up third behind Boudoir. The runner-up Dr Choccy since franked the form in (Nearly) winning at his next start. Able to step out now to the 1700m for the first time should see Peledara roll forward again. Rarely do we see gun hoop Jason Holder make the trip to the South-East and the Ricky Bruhn polish is always a positive up in this region.

CLASSIC WEIWEI just placed and weighted to win for the McEvoy camp. Last season’s Listed Port Adelaide Guineas winner is looking for his first win of 2020 and the McEvoy’s have used a sojourn to the South-East previously to kick start a winning sequence for their horses. Ran through the line okay from well back on the Parks track over 1400m behind Aqueduct who just controlled the race too well. Found the 1950m a bridge too far second up when settling forward of midfield with good speed on throughout. Blinkers on again with tongue tie and cross over noseband coming off are indications to me that they are intending to take up a more forward position in running, which will suit prolific winner Jess Eaton who is booked to take her first ride on the horse.

THE RAVEN created excitement at Morphettville when Maggie Collett guided the Kristi Evans trained 5yo to win his third start this prep and thus landing a winner in the last on her debut metropolitan race day. He found no problems around the tight Naracoorte track two back when he and Collett held enough pace off the inside to hold out the speeder in Vegan the start prior either. Now Collett and The Raven are staring down a hatrick of wins and I would think this quick Penola surface will suit.
