Here are our Penola tips for today:
Race 3 - 1:55PM Brand & Sons Wines Maiden Plate (1100 METRES)
Trainer Simon Gebert brings JUNGLE FLIGHT (Best Odds Currently $20 with Palmerbet) back to the track he showed improvement at. Two starts ago and Jungle Flight had begun well under Ellis Wong who staked his claim towards the inside. Had the runner-up Magicourt roll back into his running line, forcing Ellis to hold up for several strides. Magicourt herself was a huge run that day and has since come out of a good-rating maiden at Oakbank behind The Transfactor. Forgive the latest effort of Jungle Flight over 1400m last start off a wide run. Scratched from 1300m at Bordertown recently and should be strong through the line from a soft draw back to 1100m.
Race 5 - 3:10PM Banks Thargo Coonawarra Benchmark 58 Handicap (2100 METRES)
Jacob Opperman retains the ride on FOUR OUTLAWS (Best Odds Currently $3.30 with BlueBet) after being on for the past couple. Coming off a disappointing run over 1700 metres at Warrnambool last time out. Jacob found a beautiful early position which the horse couldn’t hold off that quick early tempo and drifted well back in the field. Sort of found a rhythm as the race was all over in a run that may have suggested he was looking for further. Michael O’Leary has responded by getting him out to a trip for the first time, and on a track he races well on. Bolted in after sitting on the speed in a fast run 1700m the start prior and can improve.
Race 6 - 3:50PM 36° South Coonawarra Vignerons Cup (Heat 2 Limestone Coast Cup Series) (1700 METRES)
It’s been a bit of a strange prep for BOSSY BRITCHES (Best Odds Currently $23 with Bet365). Sprinted well enough between horses to grab second whilst racing first-up over 1430m at Naracoorte in a handy field. Was okay in town second-up behind Noname Lane after settling back in a slowly run 1550m event. Came back to 1300 metres here the start following where she was baulked for a run at a vital stage. Since given somewhat of a barrier trial in the Nhill Cup over 1650m on Boxing Day. Bossy Britches lost contact with the field under the apprentice and appeared to take no part in the race. Loves racing here plus handles any surface from Good to Soft. Twice a winner to BM64 grade which keeps her well in here.
