Quirindi Tips – May 11

Race 4 – 2:55PM JOHN “MOUSE” SINCLAIR BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP (2000 METRES)
Two starts back from a lengthy 31-week break and THE PREMIER has hit the ground running showing great form. First-up, the Kris Lees-trained gelding beat all but Mudgegonga home in a Scone Maiden over 1400m. Then second-up at Port Macquarie, the four-year-old destroyed his maiden rivals over 1506m, putting almost three lengths on them in the run home. Samantha Clenton was aboard on both occasions and she remains in the saddle here. Nicely-bred, by Snitzel out of a Zabeel mare, the gelding has plenty of upside and drawn nicely in gate five, he looks a big chance of taking this one out.

Race 5 – 3:35PM TAB.COM.AU CLASS 1 HANDICAP (1450 METRES)
Another promising filly from the Kris Lees stable is POWER BELLS who didn’t take long to work out what it’s all about. Also well-bred, she is by Husson out of a Lonhro mare and after two minor placings, broke through for her Maiden win last start. On a rain affected Taree track, she settled mid-field early with Andrew Gibbons in the saddle. In the run home, she showed a great turn of speed to overhaul the leaders and running the best last 200m sectional, ran on to win by more than a length in the end. Gibbons remains aboard here and from gate six she maps well and should again settle near mid-field. The slight rise in distance shouldn’t be an issue and the Soft 6 track will be ideal racing conditions for her as well. She should take a ton of beating here.
