Race 4 - 2:10PM LIVERPOOL PLAINS BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP (1450 METRES)
Next Best 🥈No. 8 CANFORD MICK $7.50 Bet Now!
A big field of 14 face the starter here and drawing the outside gate, CANFORD MICK (best odds $7.50 with Palmerbet) still looks right in the mix today. Last start, the Canford Cliffs gelding was second-up as he took on a Class 1 field over 1280m at Muswellbrook. On a Soft 7 that day, he came from well back to grab third prize on the line. Today, he faces similar company but steps up in distance which suits his racing style. He sees the Quirindi track for the first time today but is already a winner when third-up and with Arran Bullock back aboard, he will get every chance to figure in this contest and good each-way odds.
Race 6 - 3:20PM JOHN DEERE PVM BENCHMARK 66 HANDICAP (1000 METRES)
Best Bet 🏆No. 1 HALCYON HOUSE $8.50 Bet Now!
Tamworth visitor HALCYON HOUSE (best odds $8.50 with Bet365) sees the track for the first time today but ticks enough boxes to be considered a real each-way chance here. Last start, the Husson gelding was second-up off a six-month absence when he ran home well to grab third prize in a BM74 over 1000m at Scone. He ran his last 600m, 4.5 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best here by more than 3 lengths. He covered the entire trip, 3 lengths above standard, setting himself a new personal best. After the claim here, he carries just 58kgs and is a two-time winner over the trip. His resume also shows he is unbeaten when third-up and despite a wide draw, he still looks a genuine chance at good odds today.
Race 7 - 3:55PM BROWNING MOTORS BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP (1200 METRES)
Next Best 🥈No. 4 MR WHITACRE $3.40 Bet Now!
Another big field lines up here with the Rod Northam-trained MR WHITACRE (best odds $3.40 with Sportsbet) in great touch and ready to win again. Last start, the Deep Field gelding was second-up off a lengthy 46 weeks off the scene when he lined up in the Country Maiden Plate over 1280m at Muswellbrook. That day, despite overracing early, he took over inside the last 200m and held on to win. He covered the trip, 7.9 lengths slower than benchmark, still the third best effort in this field. Arron Bullock has the reins today for the first time as the four-year-old has his first look at the Quirindi track and fitter for those first two runs, he looks right in the mix here.
