Race 3 - 1:50PM SAILS REAL ESTATE BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP (1007 METRES)
Best Value 💰No. 3 SARZANA $10.00 Bet Now!
Second-up today, Moruya galloper SARZANA (Best Odds $10 with Palmerbet) ticks too many boxes to be looking for something to beat her here. Last start, the Animal Kingdom mare was given a warm-up run after spending the last 28 weeks in the paddock. First-up, she finished fourth (on a Firm 2) at Young, beaten two length on the line with Robbie Brewer aboard. That effort was coming off a Moruya barrier trail where she finished third of the seven that day. Brewer sticks with her here where she has seven podium finishes from her 12 visits to the track. Second-up, she has finished top-three on four occasions and is a track and distance winner as well. That’s more than enough to have her finishing top three again today.
Race 4 - 2:30PM JUNGLE EDGE FAREWELL WINTER SPRINT (1207 METRES)
Best Bet 🏆No. 5 MR MAGICAL $2.25 Bet Now!
Winning two of his past four starts, the Jamie Stewart-trained MR MAGICAL (Best Odds $2.25 with Sportsbet) looks poised to go back-to-back today. Last start, the Magic Albert gelding ploughed through the heavy conditions to secure another win, this time on his home track at Moruya. He carried 59kgs (and Billy Owen) to victory that day, coming off an unplaced run at Randwick. Ideally drawn in gate four today, he maps to settle in the first half-dozen and will take a power of beating here.
Race 6 - 3:40PM HEFFERNAN LENDING SOLUTIONS WINTER CUP (1607 METRES)
Next Best 🥈No. 4 SCARLEO $3.00 Bet Now!
Barbara Joseph saddles-up SCARLEO here (Best Odds $3.00 with Bet365) and second-up today will play a major role in the finish. Last start, the Helmet gelding met his match when taking on Class 3 company at Rosehill in a Highway Hcp over 1500m. Settling well back (and three-wide), he never looked likely that day in the 15-strong field. It was a tall ask, first-up off a lengthy five-month break. Fitter for that run, he returns to country racing which is a big drop from his last event. After early scratchings, just eight face the starter here, half the size of his last encounter. Ideally drawn in gate four, he maps to settle in the first four and I am expecting to see a different horse today. Jordan Mallyon takes the reins today and with the big drop in class, the four-year-old galloper looks a solid winning chance in this line up.
