Race 1 - 1:50PM SAXON WARRIOR YEARLINGS @ COOLMORE CLASS 1 & MAIDEN PLATE (2200 METRES)
The Team Snowden-trained ON BAIL (best odds $1.80 with Neds) finally cracked it for his first career win and looks well placed here to make it back-to-back victories today. Last start, the Turn Me Loose gelding stepped beyond the 2000m trip which proved a master stroke as he put paid to a Class 1/Maiden contest over 2100m at Wyong. On a Heavy 10 that day, he ran the trip, 8.8 lengths slower than benchmark, still the best last-start effort in this field. Up against similar company today, he gets all the favours from gate one and should prove hard to beat here.
Race 2 - 2:25PM STABLE WIZARD CLASS 1 HANDICAP- HEAT OF THE RISING STAR (1000 METRES)
Newcastle galloper BULLINACHINASHOP (best odds $6.50 with Sportsbet) drops in class here and down in the weights, looks a genuine chance at odds today. Last start, the Bull Point filly came off her Maiden win when she faced a Class 2 field over 1000m at Tamworth. She took control on straightening but was swamped on the line, leaving her with third prize for her efforts. She ran that trip, 2.1 lengths slower than benchmark, the best in this field. Back to Class 1 company today, after the claim she carries 2kgs less than last start and from gate two, gets the gun-run as well. She maps to settle in the first half-dozen and already a winner at the track and trip, she looks a super chance here.
Race 3 - 3:05PM NEWGATE CLASS 1 HANDICAP (1400 METRES)
The locally-trained PALISADES (best odds $3.80 with Sportsbet) finally shook the maiden monkey last start and looks well placed here to go on with it. Having just her seconds start on her home track, the So You Think mare sat second (on the fence) until taking over inside the final 300m where she ran away with the 1300m Maiden, putting more than two lengths on her opposition that day. She ran the trip, 1.6 lengths slower than benchmark, the best here and set herself a new personal best. She also posted the fastest final 600m, 400m and 200m sectionals for the race. Rory Hutchings has the reins for the first time and given a trouble-free run, she will take beating today.
