Sunshine Coast Tips – May 29
Race 3 – 6:00PM CALOUNDRA CITY REALTY QTIS Two-Years-Old Maiden Plate (1200 METRES)
David Vandyke’s colt TICK TOCK BOOM will be out to end the run of bridesmaid prizes here as the two-year-old seeks his first career win. First-up this preparation, he had no luck in running, caught three-deep without cover the entire trip. The Spirit Of Boom colt still finished strongly to grab second prize, beaten a whisker on the line. Then last start, (second-up) he took his place in the Group 3 Ken Russell Plate (1200m) where he came across one better on the day. He settled back in the field that day and gave away far too much start to the field. Unwanted in the market, he finished a gallant second behind Wisdom Of Water as the ran the 1200m in 1:09.1 that day. He drops sharply in grade here and will find this a lot easier. Jake Bayliss has been with him for his last two runs and sticks with him here. Ideally drawn in gate four, he will do little to no work early as he looks for a sit near mid-field. With some luck on straightening, he should finish too strongly for most of these and after four runs now, he can go on and finally break his maiden status today.
Race 5 – 7:00PM ORIGINAL MATTRESS FACTORY BENCHMARK 58 Handicap (1600 METRES)
Four starts into this preparation and GOT MY THRILLS has done everything, but win. The nicely-bred Iffraaj filly has had the misfortune of meeting one better in two of her past three races. Three starts back it began where she finished (a well beaten) second to Gee Tee Tee in a BM62 here over 1200m. Then, last start, she battled on bravely in the Heavy 10 conditions, finishing second to Mood in a BM62 over the longer 1400m trip. Trainer Stuart Kendrick must see more ground in the filly as he takes on the mile trip here. She draws the outside gate here but over the longer journey will have more time to settle. Jake Bayliss climbs aboard for his first ride on the filly and with four runs behind her this preparation, she should be at her peak and can give this a real shake.
