Here are our Tamworth Tips for today.

Early race favorite, SYZYGY STARS (Best Odds Currently $2.90 with Sportsbet) makes for strong appeal early in the day. Her two trials leading up to debut showed she had some handy race ability. Never the quickest out of the gates, she can muster quickly enough to put into a spot when asked. That slow getaway saw Syzygy Stars finding herself midfield early over 1100m at Wyong on debut. She took plenty of time to balance up into the straight. When she did, she really hit the line hard to get up, just in the nic of time! Subsequently tested at Midweek-Metro level, where she was always well back at Warwick Farm. Better suited here back to country grade, and can help the punters kick along early in the day.

The blinkers came off THEO LEGION (Best Odds Currently $3.80 with Bet365) two starts back. Trainer Paul Perry also pulled the right rein in finding a CL3 over the mile at Quirindi for him. Can play up behind the gates from time to time, as was the case here. His pre-race antics proved of no ill-concern once the gates opened, with Theo Legion flying the lids to land clearly in front. He kept going strongly from barrier to post under Mikayla Weir to score with a clear margin back to Vanbari. Since attempted to lead the entire this class over 2000m at Taree. Gave a good kick too by the 250m, only to claimed late. Has improved with the blinkers off, and will appreciate coming back to the 1600m again.

2yo filly DON’T DOUBT KATIE (Best Odds Currently $11 with Sportsbet) had been ensured two solid trial efforts prior to debut. It’s a good sign when the Nathan Doyle stable asks for honest efforts from his horses during their barrier trials. This generally means he wants them fully wound up for race day, and to kick their preps off in a positive manner. Come race day for debut, Don’t Doubt Katie wasn’t the quickest into stride from her inner draw. This caused her to be hunted up by Ashley Morgan to hold a position. Just whacked away towards the line in behind the placegetters. Thay was a fairly strong maiden field, and she can improve off the race experience.
