Here are our Walcha Tips for today:
Race 4 - 3:15PM NEW ENGLAND POLARIS BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP (1200 METRES)
Best Bet 🏆No. 6 KENSINGTON LAD $3.50 Bet Now!
Back to some kind of form recently, KENSINGTON KID looks well placed here at the weights and could get away with this one. After four-straight unplaced runs, the Your Song gelding found his mojo last start where he came from back in the field to grab second prize in a BM58 over the 1000m sprint at Tamworth. He ran his last 600m 1.7 lengths quicker than benchmark which is the best here and ran an overall personal best that day of .2 of a length better than benchmark which is also the best in the field. He was drawn out in 12 today but after scratchings he should be jumping a lot closer to the inside. The step up to 1200m here will give him more time to find a sit somewhere with cover. After the claim, he carries just 55kgs (2kgs less than last start), and given a clear run here, he looks a big chance in this field.
Race 8 - 5:50PM TONY WILLIAMS MACHINERY LIGHTNING HCP (1000 METRES)
Next Best 🥈No. 11 LORD TONY $7 Bet Now!
A big overnight mover here, Tamworth galloper LORD TONY only has to overcome the wide gate to be a real force in this event. Last start, the Nicconi gelding was second-up off a 13-week break and did well to finish fourth in a Class 3 over 1000m at his home track, beaten less than a length in a tight finish. He ran the trip 1.9 lengths slower than benchmark but that is 2.5 lengths quicker than any of his competition today. Today, he is having his first look at the Walcha track with Reece Jones remaining aboard. He is a winner third-up previously, he just needs to deal with that outside draw. He drops 4kgs from that last start which puts him in this contest. Initially opening up a $15 chance yesterday, punters came for him overnight to see him less than half that quote now. He looks in the mix here.
