Werribee Tips – May 7
Race 3 – 1:30PM Mt Duneed Estate Maiden Plate (1610 METRES)
The Maiden gallopers line up in Race 3 of the day and ROYAL ADMIRAL can break through at his fourth career start. The Hayes and Dabernig-trained galloper resumed at Sandown on April 13 and in that race he settled towards the rear in the 13 horse field before running on into 7th position. I suspect the form out of that might hold up in comparison to most of the other in the field, who come out of slower ratings races. He ran just over a length slower than benchmark, which is not bad for Maiden grade and four lengths better than the nearest rival in the race, Not For Izzy. At his last campaign he closed off well when 3rd to Presently at Sale over the 1409m and at his second run back and he is racing as though the 1610m is right up his alley.
Race 9 – 4:30PM Co Cordis BM64 Handicap (1105 METRES)
The promising LOMBARDO steps out in the final event of the day and if he is anywhere near the fitness that saw him win his first career start, he should be able to take this out. The Mick Price-trained three-year-old was a big winner on debut at Bendigo in February, taking out his Maiden by four lengths, running a handy time in the process. He steps up in grade but a number of his experienced rivals are either out of form or have drawn wide. The son of I Am Invincible has firmed in the early betting from $2.50 into $2.05 and looks to be a strong banker in this race.
