RACE 2 - 12:55PM MT DUNEED ESTATE MAIDEN PLATE (1600 METRES)
Best Bet 🏆No. 1 AQUILEON $3.10 Bet Now!
AQUILEON (Best odds $3.10 with Sportsbet) can break the maiden in Race 2 of the afternoon at Werribee. The Maher/Eustace-trained galloper has been knocking on the door and has placed in four of his five career starts. The former import made his Australian debut at Bendigo recently and bumped into the impressive Hosier, finishing 3rd behind that horse. He went 4.8 lengths slower than standard benchmark, which is more than four lengths better than the next best last start figures that any runner in this race has produced. The son of Gleneagles should take improvement off that and has attracted support in the early betting.
RACE 4 - 2:10PM COR CORDIS CLASS 1 HANDICAP (1400 METRES)
Next Best 🥈No. 1 HIGHLAND JAKK $4.60 Bet Now!
HIGHLAND JAKK (Best odds $4.60 with Palmerbet) can go close at his first run back from a spell. The Robert Hickmott-trained galloper has not won since 2019 but has been competitive in his two campaigns since then, racing exclusively in town. At his first run of his last preparation he was runner-up at Sandown, producing the best late splits en route to going 2.5 lengths faster than standard when landing a length away from King Magnus over the 1300m. He was then placed behind Independent Road over the 1720m at Flemington before being put away for a spell when 6th at headquarters in January. This looks to be a suitable assignment for him to open up and he is another that has been specked in the betting.
RACE 8 - 4:30PM WERRIBEE CUP SUNDAY DECEMBER 5 2021 BM64 HANDICAP (1100 METRES)
Next Best 🥈No. 8 HILVERSTON $4.40 Bet Now!
HILVERSTON (Best odds $4.40 with Palmerbet) can make it back to back wins when he steps out in the final race of the day at Werribee The three-year-old had been battling in earlier runs this preparation but did have excuses in those. He was sent to the Pakenham Synthetic on June 4 and overcame a wide run throughout to win by just under a length from Scorpius, going 0.1 of a length faster than standard benchmark, which are among the best last start figures of any runner in this race. Look for him to sit just off the hot tempo from barrier 8 with Brett Prebble on board. The pair should be strong late in the piece.
