Here are our Wodonga race tips:
Race 7 – 4:30PM McRae Motors BM58 Handicap (1200 METRES)
I’m pretty keen on the local galloper, THE SKILLED CAT, in Race 7 of the day at Wodonga. The David O’Prey gelding has a solid record at his home track with two placings from three starts and narrowly missed out over the 1400m in a BM64 at the venue two starts ago. Since then, he has raced at Wangaratta and settled towards the rear of the field before working into it out very wide on the turn, running on well for 5th behind El Gerrouj. The son of Skilled comes right into it with the 3kg claim for the apprentice jockey and won’t be far away in the run.
Race 8 – 5:00PM Naubro Kerb BM58 Handicap (1100 METRES)
The final event of the day at Wodonga is a BenchMark 58 over the 1100m journey and SOUTHERN NATIVE should be hard to beat back in this grade. The Ciaron Maher and David Eustace-trained galloper last lined up at Cranbourne in a BM64 and couldn’t quite go on the Slow track that night, fading into 6th as a $3.10 chance. Prior to that, however, he was a dominant winner at Bairnsdale over the 1200m and he should appreciate being back on a drier track. He carries top weight of 61kg but should get the run of the race from barrier 2 and has attracted support in the early betting. Look for him to take this out.
