RACE PREVIEWS 🧐
Race 6 – 3:50PM BISHOP COLLINS CHARTERED ACCOUNTANTS BENCHMARK 64 HANDICAP (1600 METRES)
There’s value to be had right across the park here and I see plenty of it with LADIES’ GEM (No.9). Trained by Jim & Greg Lee at Randwick, The Helmet gelding doesn’t win too often but he is in good touch of late. Two starts back, he took care of a BM64 over the mile at Gosford where he was faced with a heavy track that day. He led from the outset that day and was never threatened, running the fastest 800m-200m sectional of the race. He disappointed last start where he faded to finish mid-field against similar company over 1500m at Hawkesbury. He returns here for his ninth start at the track and does boast a solid record on the track with five top-three finishes to date. He comes in nicely at the weights here as lines up against similar company again. Drawn sweetly in gate five, he should settle in the first three or four and from there, gets the opportunity to bounce back in this contest. At double-figure odds, he looks great value in such an open affair.
Race 7 – 4:25PM WYONGS NEXT RACEDAY SATURDAY JULY 11 BENCHMARK 64 HANDICAP (1350 METRES)
Another at big odds today is the Kris Lees-trained MR PIQUET who looks sensational value at double figures. The Street Boss gelding is a proven bread winner, finishing top-three in 10 of his 16 careers starts. Last start, he was resuming from a four-month lay-off, and on his fresh legs, he carried 61.5kgs to beat home a BM58 field on a wet Taree track. He came from mid-field to run down the leaders that day. The Street Boss gelding has drawn well in gate six and should be prominent on settling. He is stepping up in grade today, as are most of the others so he loses nothing there. Rachel King jumps aboard for her first ride on him and an each-way ticket on the Lees stable runner looks the go here.
