Race 1 - 1:15PM JIM BEAM CLASS 1 & MAIDEN PLATE (2100 METRES)
Next Best 🥈No. 3 JUST A JEDI $2.50 Bet Now!
Coming off a Maiden win, Rosehill galloper JUST A JEDI looks well placed here to go on with it today. After a disappointing trip to Kembla Grange two starts back, the Free Eagle gelding headed north to Gosford last start where he faced another maiden challenge over the mile. With James Innes Jnr back aboard, he rode to new instructions (to be ridden more forward), box-seating most of the way. He took control soon after straightening and with 59.5kgs on his back, raced away to win by more than two lengths on the line. He ran the best overall race sectionals that day and his last 600m, 2 lengths quicker than benchmark, the second best here. This looks no harder and from gate four, looks to get the run of the race. Innes Jnr remains in the saddle and together they can get away with this one.
Race 7 - 4:50PM TAB.COM.AU BENCHMARK 64 HANDICAP (1100 METRES)
Best Bet 🏆No. 2 BAROSSA ROSA $4.60 Bet Now!
The Tracey Bartley-trained BAROSSA ROSA looks well placed here and should take a ton of beating today. Resuming from a trial win on this track, the Adelaide filly then made her return to racing (after 22 weeks in the paddock) at Canterbury where she fought like a tiger to win her 1100m Maiden by a whisker that day. Second-up syndrome then hit home where she found the rise to BM72 level a bit too much and the final 100m of the 1200m trip saw her out as well. Then last start, she dropped back to Class 1 company and back to the 1100m at Hawkesbury where she was in her element that day. Settling second on the fence, she took control on straightening and that was all she wrote as she went on to win that contest by more than a length on the line. The three-year-old ran that trip out 3.2 lengths quicker than benchmark, which is the best in this line up. Both her victories have come on wet tracks and with a Soft 7 forecast today, she will be in her element. In from $5.50 overnight, the filly continues to shorten and looks the best of the day.
