Happy Valley is one of two racecourses staging feature horse racing in Hong Kong with the other being Sha Tin racecourse.

See below for the horses to follow from the upcoming race meetings at Happy Valley.

Having his second start at the track tonight, the Dennis Yip-trained GOOD VIEW CLARICO looks well placed here to give this a shake. The I Am Invincible gelding last saw the Happy Valley circuit almost 12 months ago where he finished unplaced in a Class 4 over 1000m. That was just his third start on Hong Kong soil since arriving from Australia. Last preparation, he had just three starts, winning all three at Sha Tin. He resumed recently from a five-month break where he finished third in a Class 3 over the 1000m at Sha Tin, then repeated that effort last start against similar company on the same track and trip. Fitter for those two runs, he is already a winner when third-up and after the claim, carries 3kgs less here. With a little luck in running, he should prove hard to beat in this field.

It’s hit or miss with the Chris So-trained CLASSIC UNICORN and I’m banking on him to go back-to-back for the first time tonight. The Per Incanto gelding has a hot and cold history with four wins and no minor placings from eight starts to his name. Last start, he was first-up off a 17-week spell and showing no signs of fatigue, took care of a Class 2 field, here over the 1000m sprint. He drew wide that night in gate 10 (of 12) but still had enough to put almost two lengths on them in the end. He has enjoyed a seven-week freshen-up since then so he will line up tonight on basically fresh legs again. Drawn the fence here, his only concern is the extra 4kgs he has to carry. The lightly-raced five-year-old should manage that from the ideal draw and give this field a real fright at good odds.

Joao Moreira had first-up success with the Caspar Fownes-trained THE ROCK last start and is sticking with him here as a result. The former English galloper comes off a nine-week let-up here after a close-up win at Sha Tin last start where he won a Class 3 over 1400m. The five-year-old has drawn out in barrier eight tonight for his Happy Valley debut but that shouldn’t deter his chances any, after jumping from gate 10 (of 11) at Sha Tin last start. The Dutch Art gelding had his first look at the track in a trial here last week and in a field of nine, won it comfortably in the end. So, can Hong Kong’s leading trainer and jockey join forces again here and come up with another win ? I believe so.
