Happy Valley Tips – March 25

Race 6 – KONG SIN WAN HANDICAP (CLASS 3) 1200M
Yet to finish worse than second from six career starts, DANCING FIGHTER lines up here in a very strong position. Nicely bred, by Zoustar out of a Danzero mare, the four-year-old debuted in December 2018, winning a tight finish in a Class 4 with Zac Purton aboard. Then, following a hat-trick of runner-up finishes, he returned to the winner’s circle two starts back, edging out Yoo Yoo King in a Class 3, here over 1200m with Joao Moreira in the saddle. Last start, he made it back-to-back victories, winning another Class 3 over 1200m, running 1:09 for the second time as well. Of his three wins, he drew outside gate seven every time, and the barrier gods have again been harsh, giving him gate nine to deal with this time. He must carry 4.5kgs more than his last start win but with Moreira in the saddle again, and coming off a trial win, on fresh legs he looks the one they have to beat.

Race 8 – KONG SIN WAN HANDICAP (CLASS 3) 1200M
He’s been a prolific placegetter recently, but here, BEAUTY SPARK gets his chance to break the shackles and pick up his first win for this preparation. The Frankie Lor-trained gelding is six starts into this campaign, finishing third at his past four straight. Two starts back, he came from mid-field on the turn to finish within two lengths of Ping Hai Galaxy. Then last start, he came from a similar position to finish third again behind the very smart This Is Class, taking ground off the winner in the final 100 metres. Drawn the middle of the field here, Zac Purton will more than likely look for a similar sit in running, mid-field with cover, and maybe this time he can be in a winning position on straightening. At peak fitness, this can be his race.
